There are many exciting things happening at the BGS library!
I have had several students turn in their reading logs to me. Besides their completion prize, students will be entered into a drawing for several bigger prizes. Those drawings will take place on Friday, August 22nd.
I have also posted different challenges for students. The first is our Dewey Number of the Week. I will post a Dewey Decimal number and students are to find a book with that Dewey decimal number and bring it to me. This will teach our students not only to locate books by Dewey decimal number, but also introduce them to the different Dewey decimal categories. The second challenge is our Fact Challenge. For this challenge I ask that students bring me a fun or silly fact and show me where they found it. The first fact I receive each day will be posted on our "Did you know?" board.
Additionally, students in 5th and 6th grade will be having library skills classes this year. I feel it is important for students to learn important researching skills such as locating items in the library and safe and effective searching online. I look forward to working with the older students this year.
This is going to be a fun and exciting year and I look forward to seeing what each day brings!
